Meet the Beekeepers Behind the Honey
Hannah Bee Honey was founded by Hannah and Peter in 2010. What started as a small stand at the Farmer’s Market has grown into a beloved local brand, thanks to their dedication to producing high-quality, raw honey. With the help of their team and local farming families, they’ve built a business that not only provides amazing honey but also supports pollination efforts in our community.
How This Local Honey is Made
The honey you find at Evilena's is truly local, sourced from hives located across southern Will County and northern Kankakee County. Farmers rent these hives to help pollinate their crops, ensuring healthier plants and better yields. In return, these hardworking bees create delicious honey. Hannah Bee Honey is hand-collected, hand-bottled, and hand-labeled, and is essentially pulled straight from their hives with no alteration whatsoever.
What Does “Raw” Honey Mean?
Unlike processed honey found on grocery store shelves, raw honey is unpasteurized and minimally filtered. This means it retains its natural enzymes, antioxidants, and nutrients, making it a healthier alternative to conventional honey. Raw honey also has a richer flavor and texture, straight from the hive to your table.
Honey Facts
• One of the best things about honey is its incredible shelf life! It’s the only food that can last forever. It has been found in Egyptian tombs and is still edible!
• No refrigeration needed – Store it in a cool, dry place at room temperature.
• Crystallization is normal – Over time, raw honey may become thick or grainy, but don’t worry! If you’d like, just place the jar in warm water and stir to return it to its liquid form.
• Due to honey's unique low moisture/high acidity/low pH levels, it is very highly resistant to bacteria and nearly never spoils, unless additional moisture has been introduced into the mix.
