Divine Detours
Divine Detours
Have you ever planned out your day “to a T”, only to have a roadblock or a detour pop up and thwart your perfectly planned day?
A flat tire, a traffic jam, a sick child, an unexpected visitor or phone call that needs immediate attention – any one of those scenarios or some other delay can throw us off kilter and leave us feeling frustrated, running behind, and sometimes, overwhelmed.
Do you believe that God guides your steps each day? Do you believe that He sustains you while you sleep, and that He wakes you up each day and gives you the strength to move about and accomplish tasks for the day ahead?
What about long-term goals and plans? Do you believe that God cares about where you work, where you live, your family and friends, your health, your finances, your well-being, and your life in general?
He DOES care about these things! He cares about you, friend, and He cares so much that He offers guidance and wisdom for each and every circumstance of each day.
God promises in scripture to guide us day by day. Psalm 48:14 tells us, “For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even unto death.” And again, in Isaiah 58:11, “And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and shall satisfy thy soul in drought.”
Do you ever worry about making the right decision? God offers guidance and wisdom to those who call upon him. Psalm 73:24, “Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel…”
Sometimes it can be hard to trust someone that you cannot see in person. This is where our faith has the opportunity to be exercised and put into good use! The more we pray and pour out our heart to God, the more He will reveal himself to us each day. He will remind us through His word, the scriptures, and through circumstances, that He has heard our prayers, and that He is working all things together for our good, and for His glory.
We can lay out the most concise plans for the day…and then those plans get derailed or diverted for some reason. Do these delays bring out frustration in us or do they yield a trusting heart that believes that God is in control of our days, and that delays and distractions happen for a reason?
Perhaps God wants your path to cross with someone else’s path. When we start each day with prayer and acknowledge God as our sovereign Guide, we can be assured that nothing happens by accident nor coincidence. God truly DOES care about you - and He DOES have a divine plan for your day, and for your future. It is important to acknowledge His providence and guidance, and to face each day with hope and anticipation of what He is going to do, and where He is going to take us each day, in order to accomplish His divine work. There is always more going on than what we can see with our limited human sight. God is always at work in us, and around us.
When we can view our delays, detours, and diversions as God-stops, it makes each day an adventure, full of divinely scheduled appointments and interactions.
God has a wonderful plan for your life! It matters not how old you are, or what season of life you find yourself in at this moment. God is continually seeking your heart, and He desires to have a presence in each day as you walk this journey called “Life.”
Are you faced with big decisions today? Seek God’s face in prayer and ask Him for wisdom, clarity, and guidance. We would love to partner with you in prayer - did you know that Evilena’s has a prayer box in the store where you can write down your prayer requests, and each request is prayed over and lifted up to God above. You are not alone in your decision-making, or in your day-to-day challenges. The staff at Evilena’s Red Dresser cares about each and every person who crosses our path or who walks through our doors! It would be an honor and privilege to pray for you.
We consider it to be a divine appointment when a customer comes into Evilena’s Red Dresser. We are grateful for each and every customer, and it is our hope that when you walk into our shop, you will feel warmly welcomed, and know that we are here to serve you beyond the purchase of an item from our store. We love our community, and we appreciate each person who reaches out to connect with us. God loves people, and people matter the most to us!
Of course, we want you to have a pleasant shopping experience at Evilena’s Red Dresser, but even more than that, we hope that you feel a sense of community when you are here. Our workshops seek to teach new skills, and also to invite you to learn, laugh, linger, and make new friends! The items that we sell are items that connect seller to buyer, and that help people through transition. At Evilena’s, we understand that sometimes it’s hard to let things go. There are memories and sentimentality tied up into most of the pieces that our consignors bring in.
Often, people consign items with us because life has brought them along a path of detour. They may be downsizing, or have lost a loved one, or are experiencing financial difficulties. These are all transitional circumstances that can be eased with compassion, kindness, and a warm welcome into a shop where people genuinely care about you.
At Evilena’s Red Dresser, our mission is not merely to buy and sell items in our upscale consignment shop. Our mission is to help people through seasons of transition, and to offer help and hope. The last few years have left many people feeling isolated and perhaps a bit uncertain of the future. At Evilena’s, we launch from a place of faith and trust in God, knowing that He cares about people, and that He has a plan for each and every person. Please know that you are always welcome to stop in and browse, or to simply chat with one of our friendly staff, or fill out a prayer request and know that prayers will be lifted to God on your behalf.
When God’s divine providence takes you along an unfamiliar path, or delays, detours, and distractions seem to be pulling you off course, look up and seek the face of the One who knows exactly where your next footstep should go. Trust that He does, indeed, have a personalized, good plan for YOU! When disappointments derail your plans, just know that God is up to something…and with joy and anticipation, thank Him for all that He is doing in your life, your community, your family. He has good plans for you!
